Canon EOS 1D Mark IV testing at Motor GP
For those who are looking for a Pro all rounder DSLR, I would say the EOS 1D Mark IV is the ideal camera! In the previous Pro DSLR line up, a photographer can only choose either a high burst rate camera with 10 fps or a high resolution camera with a slower burst rate of 5fps .
Now, with the EOS 1D Mark IV, you can have both of these advantages! It offers 10 fps continuous shooting (at tracking focus mode) with a 16.1 megapixel APS-H size CMOS Sensor. Having the comprehensive combination of speed, accuracy and image quality, the EOS-1D Mark IV is the perfect choice not only for professional photographers who are shooting fast moving subjects such as motorsport, sport, wildlife but also a perfect tool for those who needs high resolution for his work.
I have tested the EOS 1D Mark IV using the Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB CF card during the recent MotoGP Testing 2010 held in Sepang. I found that there is no sign of delay at all for my shoot in this event even when I m shooting at 10fps with RAW + Jpeg (L size).
The above samples are some of the picture processed using Digital Photo Profession (DPP) software bundled by Canon. In short, the pictures captured and processed has excellent colors, needless to say the focusing performance from EOS 1D Mark IV is really superb! From the pictures which are self-explanatory, you can see the fine details such as the spare parts number from the racing bikes. Even the quality of the jacket’s stitching can be seen.
The EOS 1D Mark IV should be on top of your list if you prefer to shoot fast motorsport or others commercial work that requiring a fast frame rate and high resolution.
